About The Circuit

Autódromo Internacional do Algarve

The Autódromo Internacional do Algarve in Portimão is one of the most spectacular modern circuits in the world. Built on hilly terrain near the Atlantic coast, the circuit delivers dramatic elevation changes and countless blind corners that make driving here an unforgettable experience. The famous Turn 1 — a blind descent followed by a sharp corner — is one of the most talked-about corners in modern motorsport. With the beautiful Algarve climate, this is a dream location for trackdays.

History

Opened in 2008, the circuit was initially left off the major championships. That changed during the COVID pandemic when Portimão hosted the Portuguese Grand Prix in 2020 and 2021. The circuit was immediately praised by drivers and fans for its spectacular layout. It is also a fixture on the WSBK calendar.
