Circuit Spa-Francorchamps

Which race car suits Spa-Francorchamps?

At 7.004 km and 19 corners, Spa-Francorchamps is the most demanding circuit in the Benelux. The track follows the hills of the Ardennes: long climbs, fast descents and tarmac that is rarely flat. What Spa asks of the driver is confidence at high speed — Raidillon and Blanchimont are not solved with technique alone, and Pouhon keeps the car under lateral load for seconds on end. Against that stands the Kemmel straight of roughly 1,050 metres, with braking into Les Combes as the classic overtaking zone.

Spa rewards power on the Kemmel straight and stability in the fast corners. If it is your first time here, the BMW 125i is the logical choice: 250 hp, paddle shift, ABS and traction control — enough speed to feel Spa, with the safety nets intact. If you want to learn to steer properly, the BMW 325i E36 with 200 hp, a manual gearbox and no electronic aids at all is the most honest school there is.

With experience Spa becomes truly interesting. The BMW M3 E92 (4.0L V8, 440 hp) and the Mercedes-AMG GT4 (up to 476 hp) make full use of the long straights, while the Porsche Cayman 718 GT4 Clubsport, at ~1,320 kg with a PDK gearbox, has exactly the agility that Pouhon and the Bus Stop ask for. For drivers with circuit experience the Porsche 992 GT3 Cup is the end goal: 525 hp, sequential gearbox with paddle shift, ABS and traction control, on slicks.

Circuit Zolder

Which race car suits Zolder?

Circuit Zolder is 4.011 km long and has 10 corners winding through the Limburg woods. The longest straight measures roughly 550 metres — a fraction of what Spa or the Nürburgring offer. That changes everything: at Zolder you do not gain time with power alone, but with braking, traction and the patience to place the car properly on corner exit. The short lap also makes the learning curve steep, because you complete far more laps per session than on a long track.

Because the longest straight at Zolder is only around 550 metres, extra power pays off far less here than at Spa or the Nürburgring. Agility, braking and traction out of the slow corners weigh more heavily. That makes the lighter cars in our fleet particularly strong: the BMW 325i E36 (200 hp, ~1,200 kg, manual) and the BMW E90 325i (230 hp) teach you exactly what you are doing with the throttle.

If you want to go a little faster right away, the BMW 125i with paddle shift, ABS and traction control is the most comfortable step up, and the BMW M140i (365 hp) the logical next one. Experienced drivers get a lot out of the BMW M3 E36 (330 hp, ~1,200 kg) and the Porsche Cayman 718 GT4 Clubsport, which at ~1,320 kg with a PDK gearbox suits a track full of braking zones. The heavier GT cars are of course possible too — their advantage simply lies more on the fast circuits.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I rent a race car at Circuit Spa-Francorchamps?

Yes. Spa-Francorchamps is the home circuit of TrackTime: your fully prepared race car is waiting in the paddock, including equipment and technical support throughout the trackday.

Which race car should I choose for Spa?

If it is your first time, the BMW 125i (250 hp, paddle shift, ABS and traction control) is the safest way to get to know Spa. If you want to learn without electronic aids, the BMW 325i E36 is ideal. Experienced drivers choose the BMW M3 E92, the Porsche Cayman 718 GT4 Clubsport or the Porsche 992 GT3 Cup. We are happy to advise.

How much track time do I get at Spa?

That is up to you: from 1×20 minutes to a full day. Because a lap at Spa is 7 km long, you cover more kilometres per session than on a shorter circuit.

Do I need experience to drive at Spa-Francorchamps?

You can drive with TrackTime from the age of 18 with a valid driving licence, or from 16 with an FIA racing licence. Circuit experience is not a requirement, but on a track like Spa we strongly recommend instruction: Raidillon and Blanchimont are fast and partly blind.

Can I rent a race car at Circuit Zolder?

Yes. TrackTime delivers your fully prepared race car to Circuit Zolder, including equipment and technical support during the trackday.

Which race car should I choose for Zolder?

At Zolder agility counts for more than top speed: the longest straight is around 550 metres. Beginners choose the BMW 125i (250 hp, paddle shift, ABS and traction control) or the BMW 325i E36 without electronic aids; experienced drivers get a lot out of the BMW M3 E36 or the Porsche Cayman 718 GT4 Clubsport.

Is Zolder suitable for a first trackday?

Very suitable. The lap is short (4.011 km, 10 corners), so you complete many laps per session and quickly become familiar with the track. With an instructor beside you, one day is enough to build a complete picture of the circuit.

What is the noise limit at Zolder?

Noise limits are revised regularly and differ per organiser and per event. Ask us for the limit that applies on your track day — we prepare your race car to comply with it.

Is there a transport cost at Spa or Zolder?

No. Our race cars are based at Spa-Francorchamps and Zolder is a short distance away, so at both circuits you simply pay the rental price of the car. For circuits outside the Benelux we do charge a transport cost, which we quote per request.

How much does renting a race car at Spa or Zolder cost?

You will find the from-price per car above in our fleet; all rates and packages are on the pricing page. The exact price depends on the car, the track time you choose and the event. All amounts are excl. VAT.
